Ladies and Gentlemen, I am really stoked about this new concert series I am starting up with Brad Smith up at Almost Music in the trendy-yet-still-scruffy Benson neighborhood of Omaha. Our first concert will be at Almost Music (in the Solid Jackson Books side of the store) on Saturday December 7th at 7pm, all ages, bring the little kids and freak them out on the music they think they will rebel to in college, thereby short-circuiting their whole “I’m different than YOUR stupid generation” phase, which I guess if you took that to an extreme is how we have arrived at the current HIGHLY upsetting trend of hipsters fronting on Clint Black 90’s pop country. YOU CAN DO BETTER, KIDS.
Anyhoozel, this series will feature experimental and improvised music of all sorts, will have a regional focus but will happily host visiting artists (HIT ME UP IF YOU”RE COMING THRU THE BIG O, YOU INTREPID TOURING IMPROVISORS), and will happen aperiodically, but with some frequency. The first show will feature Omaha sound artist Dereck Higgins doing some laptop wizardry, Rake Kash performing noisey improv, and yours truly debuting a NEW BAND featuring DANA MURRAY and MAX STEHR – good god these guys are bad asses on their instruments and listeners and creators of the highest order, masquerading as nice Midwestern guys (Actually Max is New Jersian-via-Alabama, but let’s just sweep that under the rug for now). My new trio is being called “ESOTERIC” and I think that is fitting because we are playing music from the very innermost depths of our inner dwelling places, the places where you dream of cronuts and complete self-acceptance and effortless drives thru rush hour and… uh… faster metabolisms, and uh.. More cd sales…
DID YOU KNOW I RELEASED A CD THIS FALL?? DID YOU KNOW I ALSO RELEASED A CASSETTE TAPE??? I AM LITERALLY BURIED UNDER THESE THINGS!! I HAVEN’T SEEN MY CAT IN WEEKS AND I STUB MY TOES ON THE BOXES EVERY OTHER NIGHT.
Ok, so check back in soon for music updates, and more assaults on grammar and syntax and just plain old readability.
